The introduction of an adjustable, multifunctional die for drawing multiple diameters represents Workmec®’s concrete response to the needs of the modern market and internal optimization.
- What it is: It is a multifunctional, adjustable die designed to allow the processing of different drawing diameters.
- How it was born: The idea arose from the need for faster and more versatile tool changeovers, drastically reducing the number of interchangeable components (as highlighted by the yellow and blue example in the video below).
- Why it’s useful: The main advantage is economic and operational. The ability to perform faster and more flexible tool changeovers significantly reduces labor, production, and maintenance costs, as well as speeding up production cycles.

Continuity of innovation: from vision to production
Equipment efficiency is an integral part of Workmec®’s strategy, which aims to maintain complete control of the supply chain by designing and developing its own production machinery in-house.

The management of a wide range of diameters, which the adjustable mould is able to handle, represents a daily necessity for Workmec®:
- Management of dimensional variety: the company produces baskets for under-plate mounting with diameters from 60 mm to 180 mm (or on request) and baskets for over-plate mounting with diameters from 60 mm to 160 mm.
- Section flexibility: thanks to the large number of equipment developed over time, Workmec® is able to produce special baskets not only with round sections, but also star-shaped (from 8 to 20 points), oval (for example 10 or 16 wires), rhomboidal, square and even to customer designs.
This versatility demonstrates the effectiveness of the technical solutions designed internally by Workmec® technicians, always aimed at optimizing production capacity.

The operational speed and reduced maintenance, introduced with the new adjustable mould, are perfectly in line with the processing methods already consolidated in Workmec®:
- Production speed and control: to ensure high production rates, Workmec® uses automatic welding lines designed in-house.
Welding between wires and rings or top/bottom is performed in a single step using multiple electrodes arranged radially with respect to the cross-section, configured in a “star” pattern.
These lines are equipped with control systems that constantly monitor key parameters and halt production if the values deviate from the pre-qualified values, thus ensuring uniformity and quality of the welded joint.
- Maintenance reduction and weld-free solutions: to reduce interchangeable components and reduce potential sources of failure, Workmec® has developed weld-free solutions.
The numerous welds on the baskets can generate burrs that damage the filter sleeve; to avoid this, flange or Snap Ring collar fastening systems are used, which improve reliability and overall performance.
- Longevity and reliability: in addition to productivity, Workmec® guarantees the durability of its components thanks to special processes such as cataphoresis.
This immersion treatment provides anti-corrosion protection even in the most difficult to reach areas, ensuring high resistance to atmospheric agents, alkalis and diluted acids, and thermal resistance up to 300°C for one hour.
